Technology makes it easier. The Internet facilitates so many methods of publishing ideas and and even the simplest thought. Still, it's going beyond the simple that makes the written word so special. The best writing explains simple statements or notions and tells a story.
Technique, tradition and technology help convey messages but the inherent need that people have to share their words is an essential element of the human mystery.
It's not always important to examine the source of any given tale. The most powerful stories justify their own existence. But at some point, it's always worth thinking about the "source" of our need to collect words in written form beyond mere inspiration and probably even more powerful than instinct.
